At Springmoor, the care, kindness, and dedication our residents experience each day come from the people who work behind the scenes, and alongside them, to make our community a welcoming place to live. We are excited to introduce a new employee recognition initiative called ATTITUDE, designed to revitalize how we celebrate our team members across all departments.
This program builds on our longstanding culture of excellence and gives residents a chance to recognize the staff whose attitudes and actions make a positive difference every day. ATTITUDE reflects the values that guide how our team members care for residents and support one another. We look forward to celebrating the many ways ATTITUDE shines throughout our campus and continuing to recognize the incredible team members who make Springmoor such a special place to call home.

Each month, selected employees will receive a gift card. We will also recognize them at the Residents Association meeting, giving the entire community a chance to celebrate their contributions.
The poem “Attitude” by Chuck Swindoll inspired this new initiative. The poem reminds us that, while we cannot control everything that happens, we can choose how we respond. That choice—our attitude—shapes the experiences we create for ourselves and others.
“Attitude”
By Charles Swindoll
The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.
Attitude, to me, is more important than facts.
It is more important than the past,
than education, than money,
than circumstances, than failures, than successes,
than what other people think, say or do.
It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill.
It will make or break a company… a church… a home.
The remarkable thing is we have a choice
every day regarding the attitude we embrace for that day.
We cannot change our past…
we cannot change the fact that people
will act in a certain way.
We cannot change the inevitable.
The only thing we can do is play the one string we have,
and that is our attitude…
I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me
and 90% how I react to it.
And so it is with you… we are in charge of our Attitudes.
Springmoor’s ATTITUDE program highlights the following:
Choice and Responsibility: We have daily control over the attitude we adopt, regardless of our external circumstances.
Impact Over Limitations: Attitude can have a larger impact on outcomes than advantages.
Practical Wisdom: Our response to events—as separate from the events themselves—is a large factor in the way we experience our daily lives.
Mindset Quotes
These quotations highlight the transformative power of a person’s mindset and encourage personal accountability and resilience in the face of hassles and challenges.
“A bad attitude is like a flat tire. You won’t get anywhere until you change it.” –Anonymous.
“If you are going to achieve excellence in big things, you develop the habit in little matters. Excellence is not an exception; it is a prevailing attitude.” –Colin Powell
“For success, attitude is equally important as ability.” –Walter Scott
“Excellence is not a skill, it’s an attitude.” –Ralph Marston.
“Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference.” –Winston Churchill
Having a positive attitude about aging can increase longevity
Research indicates a positive mindset is linked to better immunity, lower blood pressure, and faster recovery from illness. Seniors with positive attitudes about aging tend to live longer.
Aging is a journey filled with change—in health, lifestyle, and relationships. While these transitions can be challenging, one powerful tool can make a tremendous difference: a positive attitude. Optimism is associated with a reduced risk of cognitive decline and better memory function.
For seniors, maintaining an optimistic outlook isn’t just about “thinking happy thoughts.” Rather than ignoring life’s challenges, we can choose to focus on what’s possible rather than what’s lost. For seniors, this mindset can be the difference between simply aging and truly thriving. By nurturing optimism through gratitude, connection, and self-care, the golden years can shine even brighter.
Employees who embody ATTITUDE have a direct impact on residents’ health and well-being
Working at Springmoor is more than just a job—it’s a calling. The members of our community rely on staff not only for care and services but also for warmth, respect, and human connection. In such an environment, a good attitude isn’t just “nice to have”—it’s essential.
1. Residents Thrive on Positivity
A positive, compassionate attitude from staff can make life transitions smoother. A warm smile, patient listening, and genuine kindness can turn an ordinary day into a meaningful one for both residents and staff.
2. Teamwork Depends on Mutual Respect
Springmoor is a community within itself, with nurses, dining staff, maintenance crews, activity coordinators, administrators, and more all working together. A good attitude fosters collaboration, reduces workplace tension, and ensures that everyone is focused on the shared mission: providing exceptional care and service to every resident.
3. Attitude Shapes the Community’s Culture
A sunny attitude is often contagious! A positive mindset can inspire others to rise to the occasion. Employees set the tone for the environment—when they bring optimism and empathy to their work, the entire community feels it.
4. Attitude Impacts Quality of Care
Technical skills are critical, but in senior living, emotional intelligence is equally important. A good attitude helps employees remain patient during challenging moments, communicate effectively with residents and families, and respond to needs with understanding rather than frustration.
5. Positive Attitudes Facilitate Trust and Loyalty
Residents and their families know when staff members genuinely care. A consistently positive attitude builds trust, strengthens relationships, and encourages families to feel confident in the care their loved ones receive. This trust is the foundation of Springmoor’s excellent reputation. Our employees are not just providing services—they are shaping the daily lives of those who call Springmoor home. A good attitude transforms routine tasks into moments of connection, turning the workplace into a place of joy, dignity, and purpose.
