Meet Two Sisters Who Have Made a Difference at Springmoor for 35 Years

Recently, as part of its 35th anniversary celebration, Springmoor honored Barbara Vinson and Sandra Harris – two sisters who have worked here since the beginning.

As Springmoor celebrated its 35th anniversary, it honored two sisters who have worked at the community since the beginning.

At the ceremony to honor long-time staff, the current and former directors of the community including David Ammons, Marshall Givens and Brandon Hair as well as the sisters’ current and previous supervisors shared their appreciation for Sandra and Barbara.

Spread the Love: Springmoor Gives Back to Rise Against Hunger

This past Valentine’s Day, Springmoor residents spread the love by hosting their annual food packaging event for Rise Against Hunger, a global hunger relief organization that supplies food and aid to those in need. The senior living community in northwest Raleigh has partnered with the charity for nearly a decade, and it has helped provide more than 400,000 meals for people around the world.

Over the past few months, Springmoor residents, staff and family members continuously donated money to purchase supplies and also volunteered for the meal packaging event. This year, the community’s goal was to package 60,000 meals in just a few hours.

Springmoor Offers New Fitness Schedule, Emphasizing Strength and Balance

The Pathways Wellness Center is open and the staff is running full steam ahead to provide new programming for the Springmoor community. The current fitness schedule offers 25 classes a week with a variety of options: aquatics, yoga, Tai Chi, balance, strength and cardio! Springmoor’s Pathways Wellness Center Grand Opening Draws Crowd

After months of preparation and anticipation, Springmoor Life Care Retirement Community in Raleigh, N.C., held the grand opening of the state-of-the-art Pathways Wellness Center on March 25 with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony and reception.

More than 100 people who attended the event were treated to the sight of a variety of new services offered for residents and their guests, including a 25-meter salt water lap pool, new Keiser fitness equipment in an expanded fitness room, hot tub, sauna, movie theater, beauty salon, bistro, massage therapy rooms, movement room for fitness and wellness classes, and gaming tables.

Springmoor to Celebrate Active Aging Week & Fall Prevention Awareness Day

Active Aging Week®, which is being held Sunday, September 22 through Saturday, September 28, 2013, is a national observance organized by the International Council on Active Aging® to highlight the diverse opportunities available to older adults. The 2013 theme is “Discover your community,” and encourages older adults and the organizations that serve them to focus on wellness.

At Springmoor Life CareRetirement Community, the Pathways Wellness Directors have planned an exciting week for the community. Some of the highlights include a  “Discover your community” scavenger hunt, free smoothies, an evening celebration dance, resident storytelling, Encore Program for Lifelong Enrichment at North Carolina State, tour of the Lego exhibit and an array of exercise classes!

Springmoor Residents, Staff Donate School Supplies, Wisdom to Sanderson High School

As students around Raleigh embark on the new school year, residents, staff and retired teachers at Springmoor Life Care Retirement Community were busy collecting school supplies—and wisdom—to donate to Sanderson High School.

Springmoor collected everything from notepads to soap, and “senior-to-senior” advice (words of encouragement written on Sanderson High School note cards to share with the students). The school reported to Springmoor that they have students who are homeless, or are otherwise without the support many students at the school enjoy, and would appreciate the donation.
