The 7 Service Promises Program

Expressing Our Deep Appreciation for Springmoor’s Outstanding Staff

“Everyone wants to be appreciated, so if you appreciate someone, don’t keep it a secret.”

–Mary Kay Ash, the founder of Mary Kay Cosmetics, a global company with more than $4 billion in annual sales

Springmoor is truly blessed with a wonderful workforce. Our staff provides residents not only with excellent services but also genuine friendship, tender care, and deep respect. The purpose of the 7 Service Promises Program is simple: to formalize a process by which residents, managers, and coworkers can show their appreciation to Springmoor employees who are doing their jobs in outstanding ways.

Director of Insurance Donna McGee manages the 7 Service Promises Program and knows its history. For many years, Springmoor gave awards for “Employee of the Month.” In April 2021 when Brandon Hair was Executive Director, we initiated the current version of the program. Current Executive Director Brad Dilday has enthusiastically continued the program in the same form.

Each month, we present awards to four employees, two from the Stewart Health Center and two who support residents in Independent Living. The idea of having separate awards for staff in the Health Center and Independent Living came from residents, who felt most people were aware only of staff in the area in which they live.

Any member of the Springmoor community (staff or resident) can nominate a non-management employee to receive a 7 Service award. A committee composed of residents and employees meets monthly to review nomination forms and select which exceptional employees will be publicly acknowledged. Each monthly award winner receives a $50 gift card and automatically becomes a nominee for the employee-of-the-year award. The “Employee of the Year” is awarded a $250 gift card.

Donna reminds us, “We have a bunch of quiet yet fabulous employees.” She encourages managers and coworkers to make more 7 Service nominations for staff who work tirelessly in the background and don’t have the visibility among residents that many staff do. Winners are recognized on Facebook, in posters around campus, and in internal publications like The Springmoor Herald and Resident Memorandum.

According to Forbes, employee recognition is a critical component of building a strong workplace community and fostering employee loyalty. By recognizing and valuing employees’ contributions, organizations can create a positive and supportive workplace culture that encourages employees to stay and do their best work. Springmoor has a large number of employees with a long tenure at our community.

What Are the 7 Service Promises?

This program encourages Springmoor employees to PROMISE to provide SERVICE in their work by displaying SEVEN important work attributes:

SMILE and welcome everyone you meet.

EXEMPLIFY a positive attitude toward all residents, family members, guests, and co-workers.

RESPECT the privacy, opinions, and choices of residents and co-workers.

VALUE the opportunity to work each day as part of a great team in the home of Springmoor residents.

INITIATE “above and beyond” each day by giving more care and services than expected.

CARE for each resident the way you would want your family members to be cared for.

EXCEL at listening to all resident concerns and ideas, treating each one with compassion and importance.

Nominate a Springmoor Employee Today!

Residents often notice the efforts of an employee who excels at their job. Beyond saying “thank you” or giving them a well-deserved hug, how can we show them how much we appreciate them and how grateful we are for their dedication?

If you’re a member of our community who has recently observed a Springmoor employee going the extra mile to care for a resident, please nominate the person you think deserves special recognition. Do this regularly and you will “make the day” of some of our great employees who deserve your recognition!

Nomination forms are in boxes in the post office areas of both North and South Village. When you complete the form, provide specifics about the contributions and accomplishments of the person you’re nominating. Return your completed form to the nomination box in the post office area.

If your nominee doesn’t win the same month you submit the form, your nomination will be re-submitted the next month. Winners have usually been employed at Springmoor for at least a year.
