Springmoor Offers New Fitness Schedule, Emphasizing Strength and Balance

The Pathways Wellness Center is open and the staff is running full steam ahead to provide new programming for the Springmoor community. The current fitness schedule offers 25 classes a week with a variety of options: aquatics, yoga, Tai Chi, balance, strength and cardio! With the beautiful, new state-of-the art facility, we can now expand our schedule to 35 classes a week!
The new schedule will emphasize strength and balance. Some of the new classes include Tai Chi for arthritis, water walking, floor yoga and specialty balance classes. I’m very excited to offer a 12-week program called “Get Some Balance In Your Life.” This is a small group class that requires a commitment twice a week for 12 weeks. Participants are tested before the class starts and at the conclusion of the series. We recently finished our first series of the program and every single participant improved in their scores! The average improvement was 28 percent with the highest being 55 percent! The participants were shocked and excited to see that much improvement. The results turned them into believers! Far too often I hear people say “I’m too old to exercise” or “It’s too late for me to start.” This is an example that it’s never too late to start or make improvements.
My goal as the health and fitness director of the Pathways Wellness Center is to provide programming that gives our residents the motivation, resources and accountability they need to succeed. The “Get Some Balance In Your Life” is one example of the many success stories our residents experience when they commit to actively enjoy the lifestyle that Springmoor offers!
